Product Description
The bulbs are large, brightly coloured and late to harvest. Not to be confused with the Rocambole, ‘Russian Red’.
Origins: The Doukhobours, a communal religious sect of Russian origin, brought this to cultivar to western Canada in the late 1800s.
Description / Size:- Produces good sized bulbs.
- Double cloves are common.
- The distinctive wrapper are slightly purple; cloves are typically brown.
- 4-6 bulbs/lb. with 4-6 cloves per bulb
- Creamy white wrappers with warm brown to mauve clove skins.
Rich, complex and sweet flavour.
Storage: 6-8 months
Growing Info: The Red Russian is another cultivar that seems to appreciate our cold winter and well-drained, sandy loam.
