The bulbs are large, brightly coloured and late to harvest. Not to be confused with the Rocambole, ‘Russian Red’.
Origins: The Doukhobours, a communal religious sect of Russian origin, brought this to cultivar to western Canada in the late 1800s.

Growing Info: The Red Russian is another cultivar that seems to appreciate our cold winter and well-drained, sandy loam.
