A popular variety grown in British Columbia and becoming popular in Ontario as well. We are very impressed with the health and vigor of this variety. Large vigorous plants producing large healthy bulbs.
Origins: As the name indicates, this cultivar originated in Romania.
Description / Size:- 4-6 bulbs/lb. with 4-6 cloves per bulb
- Creamy white wrappers with warm brown to mauve clove skins.
- Lots of flavour and ‘kick’ – but not overpowering.
- Reported to have tested with the highest amount of the precious nutrient, ALLICIN, in a trial of 12 cultivars.
Storage: 6-8 months
Growing Info: The Romanian Red seems to like our cold winter and well drained, sandy loam here in Chatham-Kent.
